Odd to see the New York Times' Eric Asimov raving about Cascade Kriek as the finest sour ale while I'm here in the land of its inspiration--but. I can't disagree.
I do wish they'd included a bottle of Rodenbach Grand Cru in the flight, though.
A healthy dose of the Weekend of Spontaneous Fermentation would help rectify opinions in the right direction - http://www.bierpallieters.be/index.php?a=4&b=1&lang=eng - try and make it next year.
Cascade Kriek is great, but it lacks a 'je ne sais quoi'. Well, actually I think I do, but you have to discover it for yourself. And Eric should too.
NOTE: Blogspot has been eating some comments, and there doesn't seem to be anything I can do about it. IF your comment doesn't appear, it's not you, it's not me, it's the genuiuses at Google. Sorry--

It's great to see a Portlanhd brewer come out on top! However, Cascade needs some branding help. Branding, graphic design, etc.

I'm with Dominic. Kudos to Cascade for their Kriek; it is indeed a fine beer, but a trifle one-dimensional compared to Cantillon, Boon, et al.
